On a sunny day in 1995, a conversation with an old school friend gave our founders an idea. They would bring Lilly Pulitzer®'s brilliant designs directly to beautiful Nantucket island, where resort living, happy times and wearing Lilly Pulitzer® had always seemed to go together. They shared their thoughts with Lilly herself over a memorable dinner in Palm Beach. The "Nantucket plan" was born, ready to make shopping history as in the pink opened its doors, exclusively offering its customers the complete world of Lilly under one friendly roof.

Imagine a world in which specially crafted monkeys hang from the palm trees simply to give arriving visitors a smile, and you will understand how important fun is in the world of Lilly Pulitzer®. Over cocktails in her Palm Beach home, we asked Lilly how she would describe her famous prints. She replied, "In a word - happy!" Happy.

Happy, just like life in Nantucket, our own wonderful place in the sun. We knew our decision was made: we would bring the entire world of Lilly home for our friends and neighbors to enjoy. Since then in the pink has been a perfect fit in New England's resort and everyday lifestyles.
